Is Vancouver an overrated tourist destination? This is how the city ranks globally

Is Vancouver overrated?

And for those who say yes, how does it rank against other top destinations?

For whatever reason UK casino market research company KingCasinoBonus decided to look into that problem. Maybe they are done checking out the free betting apps.

In that analysis, they used TripAdvisor’s star ratings for the top 85 cities around the world to see how often people were disappointed in their travel destination (comparing five- and four-star ratings with three-, two-, and one-star reviews). .

Vancouver finished in the middle of the pack, ranked 56th.

The analysis estimates that 9.3 percent of visitors to the city ended up disappointed with their trip.

And the most disappointing attraction? The historic Gastown neighborhood.

“I highly recommend skipping this area, especially if you’re with your kids,” wrote a recent TripAdvisor visitor about Gastown, with others noting that the steam clock is fun, but the proximity to the Downtown Eastside causes safety and other concerns.

Vancouver wasn’t the only Canadian city to make the list. Toronto led the pack, ranking 36th (disappointing nearly 11 percent of visitors) and its zoo was named the most disappointing tourist site. Montreal also beat out (is that the right word in this case?) Vancouver, disappointing 10.3 percent of travelers and ranking 43rd. The Biodome was the city’s biggest disappointment.

The nation’s capital was just behind Vancouver at 60th (disappointing 8.6 percent) with the Ottawa Museum of Science and Technology named the city’s least exciting attraction.

Calgary and Quebec City rounded out the Canadian contingent, ranking 65th and 67th, respectively (both disappointing 8.2 percent of visitors). The Calgary Tower observation deck and the Old Quebec Funicular were the big misses there. Edmonton, Winnipeg and Halifax aren’t on the list and it’s hard to tell if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

Overall, the most overrated city to travel to is Bangkok, Thailand, followed by Antalya, Turkey, and Singapore. All disappointed around 16 percent of visitors.
