How lucky are we to live where people go on vacation? Being a tourist in our own state is great because there are so many options for fun and adventure that aren’t too far from home. TripAdvisor just released its list of top travel destinations for 2023 and it featured a small town near Tampa Bay, just a few hours from SWFL.
Ranked at #5 on the list is Tierra Verde, an island near Tampa Bay. His reason? Nature reserves, spas and acclaimed seafood restaurants.
While you’re there, you can take a bike ride up the Pinellas Bayway to Fort De Soto for a day at the beach. You can take a ferry to Egmont or Shell Key for turtle and bird watching. On Shell Key they also have clear kayak tours that look amazing. Some other top attractions in Tierra Verde include Smuggler’s Tavern, Lemon Tree Spa, and Tierra Verde Boat Rentals. And of course, in Tierra Verde there is no shortage of fresh seafood, live music and cold drinks.
