Overwatch 2 prides itself on its annual events, and the changes these events bring are some that players are looking forward to. Historically, Blizzard has been pretty consistent about what events happen and when, so here’s what we can expect from Overwatch 2 this year given the track record of previous years.
Overwatch 2 has a series of annual events that generally occur around the same time each year, although Blizzard likes to mix them up occasionally. For example, this year brought the Battle for Olympus event, which has never been done before in Overwatch history. It’s unknown if these new events will become regular additions to the game, but it’s reasonable to assume that Blizzard may have a few tricks up its sleeve.

Based on previous Overwatch schedules, here’s a likely schedule of events for Overwatch this year:
The Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year event is happening right now. It will run until early February. This year is the Year of the Rabbit.
Archives is a popular event that builds on Overwatch’s long tradition. Players will be able to play PvE missions and earn cosmetics inspired by Overwatch’s past. Expect Archives to arrive in mid-April and last through early May.
Anniversary celebrates the release of the original Overwatch. Usually, all cosmetics are available to buy during this event, which will likely last from late May to early June.
Have fun in the sun with the Overwatch Summer Games event! The Summer Games, which normally takes place in the month of August, brings casual and sports skins and the unique Lucioball mode.
Overwatch gets spooky with the Halloween Terror event. Play Junkenstein fan-favorite events and win terrifying skins. Some maps, like Hollywood, are also likely to get some gruesome makeovers this October.
Celebrate the winter holidays at the end of the year during the Winter Wonderland event. Mei Yeti Hunt and other fun events will be available from the end of December this year to the beginning of January 2024.
Be sure to mark your calendar so you don’t miss the annual Overwatch 2 events!
